Instructions for Abstract Communication by MiniSymposium Organizers

A MiniSymposium is closed when no more abstracts are accepted, authors have been notified of acceptance, and keynote speakers, if any, have been chosen.

Organizers of a closed MiniSymposium should communicate the following information to the USNCCM99 organizers by March 15, 1999:

  • A MiniSymposium Summary file
  • One file for each accepted abstract (and keynote lectures, if any)

These files should be sent to the Congress e-mail address: usnccm99@civil.colorado.edu or usnccm99@bechtel.colorado.edu. Further details follow.

    MiniSymposium Summary File

This is a plain text file that summarizes the contents and organization of the MiniSymposium. This file will be used in the preparation and scheduling of the Technical Program. Here is a sample. The file should contain:

  • MiniSymposium title, organizers, their affiliation and e-mail addresses. (This information could be extracted from the announcement.)

  • Recommended organization in sessions, including chairpersons. Sessions may be numbered (I, II, III, etc) or have theme subtitles. Please note that contributed papers are allocated 20 min each (15 for presentation + 5 for discussion) whereas Keynote speakers are allocated 40 min (30 + 10). Each session is 2 hrs (120 min) long.

  • List of accepted abstracts, ordered alphabetically. For each abstract please include: (i) Authors (see sample for preferred name listing); (ii) Title; (iii) Corresponding author and e-mail; (iv) E-mail of co-author(s) if available.

    Abstract Files

Please send each accepted abstract as a separate file to the Congress e-mail address. Altermative you may catenate all abstracts into one ASCII file if that's easier.

Make sure that each abstract complies with the original format instructions. In particular the text should be ASCII to ensure they can be post-processed, and should contain no figures. Here is a sample in plain text and a sample in TeX. Word/RTF (Rich Text Format) documents are also acceptable if sent in ASCII.

Abstracts will be processed locally and converted to PDF for preparation of the book of abstracts as well as Web display. MS Organizers do not need to worry about formatting details such as fonts or margins.

    Important Reminders

  • Only ASCII files can be post-processed. Please do not send encoded files.

  • Authors may submit final versions of accepted abstracts up to May 15, 1999. Those submissions should be sent directly to the Congress e-mail site and not to MS organizers.
