Abstract Submission Instructions

The deadline for contributed abstracts which are not part of a MiniSymposium is January 15, 1999. Authors interested in contributing to a MiniSymposium should check the posted announcements listed here, since MiniSymposia may have different submission and deadline rules. Contributed abstracts may contain up to 400 words and should fit in one page. E-mail abstract to: usnccm99@colorado.edu.

before the January 15 deadline. Abstracts sent by Fax or regular mail will not be considered. See below for formats and samples.

The abstract must contain a valid e-mail address to be used in subsequent correspondence. If the abstract is co-authored, it must identify the address of the corresponding author. Abstracts without a valid e-mail address in the text will not be accepted.

Abstracts may be submitted in one of three forms:

  1. Plain text. Here is a sample.

  2. TeX source document processable under Plain TeX format. Here is a sample. Any macros used beyond those of Plain TeX should be defined in the source file, as in the sample. Abstracts in LaTeX are discouraged. (The complexity of LaTeX is unwarranted for a short abstract.)

  3. Word 6 or 7 document saved in Rich Text Format (RTF). Other Word save file formats are not guaranteed to be electronically transmitted without loss, and hence are not acceptable.

Since all abstracts will be converted to Plain TeX format for printing in the Book of Abstracts, the second is the preferred abstract submission mode.

Important. Please do not include figures or graphics. Avoid complicated equations in the abstract text or title, as there is no guarantee that they will print correctly. Greek letters or simple in-line equations are fine if the abstract is submitted in TeX.

Only ASCII files will be accepted. Please do not send encoded files.
