Car Rental

All major US rental-car companies have offices at DIA. Counters are located in the Ground Transportation area of the Main Terminal building. If you plan to pick up a car at DIA, or one in Boulder after the Congress, be sure to make reservations well in advance, particularly to qualify for any special fares. Late summer is a very busy time for tourism in the Rocky Mountain region. Companies often are sold out of standard cars days or weeks in advance.

If you plan to rent a car at DIA this map shows three DIA-to-Boulder routes. [Route 1 via I-70 and US 36 is longest but less prone to getting lost. Some attention is required on navigating through exits I-70 -> I-270 -> I-76 -> I-25 N -> US 36. If you miss the I-70 -> I-270 exit, continue along I-70 W and take I-25 N -> US 36. Since DIA is a new airport no direct highway shortcut to Boulder will be available before 2005.]

Taxis

Taxis are expensive because of the 45-mile distance. Practical only if cost is split by sharing the ride. Note, however, that limousine and bus services do not operate after 11 PM and 11:20 PM, respectively, and car rental counters may be closed (or out of cars); so a taxi may be the only choice if your flight arrives after 10:30 PM.

Boulder Freedom Cab: (303) 292-8900. The fare from DIA to Boulder is around $65.

Ride Sharing

A sign-up message board will be posted near the registration desk area for participants interested in sharing a ride back to DIA.
