Position Responsibilities

The Ohio State University is a global leader in materials research and ranks third nationally in materials research expenditures. In order to build upon our strengths and prominence in materials research and to further establish this area as a University-wide key enterprise, the University has established the Institute of Materials Research (IMR) to coordinate, support and promote cutting-edge materials research. Through a special allocation of $20M in new University funds, the College of Engineering will support this major initiative through the cluster hiring of up to 6 new faculty members in Computational Aspects of Multiscale Materials Modeling, building up on our existing significant strengths in this field.

This cluster hiring will build a team of faculty and researchers with complementary strengths across several key interdisciplinary areas. Correspondingly, these hires will occur in several departments, including Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial, Welding and Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering. Ideal candidates should have expertise in multiscale computational modeling specializing in one or more fields specified below:
 
* Biomaterials
* Computational Thermodynamics and Dynamic Behavior of Materials
* Electronic and Optical Materials
* Materials Joining
* Mathematics for Multiscale Materials Modeling
* Verification, Validation and Uncertainty Quantification of Materials
Modeling

Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in, or related to, one of the areas mentioned above, have a distinguished record of scholarship commensurate with experience, exceptional potential for world-class research, and a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates will be considered at all faculty levels (Assistant, Associate, and Full) for this opportunity.
